Get Involved

Universities and colleges in any country are encouraged to contact the Scholars at Risk office to inquire about joining the network. Scholars at Risk welcomes partnerships with academic associations and organizations around the world interested in academic freedom, freedom of inquiry, freedom of expression and related values.

Around the world today, scholars are attacked because of their words, their ideas and their place in society. Those seeking power and control work to limit access to information and new ideas by targeting scholars, restricting academic freedom and repressing research, publication, teaching and learning. The Scholars at Risk Network is an international network of universities and colleges responding to these attacks. SAR promotes academic freedom and defends the human rights of scholars and their communities worldwide.

Education and Advocacy

Scholars at Risk educates the public about attacks on scholars and universities through the network website, email bulletins, publications and events. The speaker series brings threatened scholars to member campuses to engage directly with students, faculty, alumni and the community. The network also advocates on behalf of imprisoned scholars and undertakes research aimed at promoting understanding and respect for academic freedom and related values.
